Job Description:

Summary: This position requires a professional, respectful, positive, and self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who is available to work evenings/weekends/flexible shifts with minimal supervision. The lifeguard must be a team player who will be responsible for the overall supervision of the pool area, general maintenance of the pools and chemicals. Be knowledgeable about all emergency procedures. The lifeguard is responsible for overall cleanliness of the pool areas, opening and closing of pools, and other duties as required by department manager at Ambassador Hotel & Conference Centre Kingston.

Work Conditions:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Wears a uniform and able to represent a defined and high grooming standard
  • Moderate level of mental effort, high level of mental alertness
  • Standing and/or walking for prolonged periods of time
  • Moderate level of physical effort (may include activities such as periodic lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • High level of sensory attention; sight and hearing
  • Overtime as required
  • Shift work, days, evenings, weekends

  • First Aid/CPR required
  • Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Award required
  • Pool Operation course an asset
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • A demonstrated basic understanding of current forms of technology and its application
  • A demonstrated ability to speak confidently in public
  • Red Cross Lifeguard Training an asset
  • WHMIS training an asset
