Position Summary: The HR Generalist - Attendance Management Specialist supports managers in the analysis and problem solving of absenteeism. Overseeing the coordination of related case management activities in accordance with Employee Attendance Awareness Program, related Collective Agreements and relevant legislation, the Attendance Management Specialist acts as a process facilitator, and is responsible for providing timely, knowledgeable and professional advice and services to managers that will result in effective attendance management strategies. In addition, the Attendance Management Specialist will provide service, support and guidance in other areas of human resources including talent acquisition and labour relations in a unionized setting. The Attendance Management Specialist will carry out the duties in alignment to the organization’s mission, vision and values.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of all legislation and regulations pertinent to the role, including but not limited to, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as an understanding of policies and legislation affecting the department

  • Knowledge of relevant provisions of the applicable collective agreements
  • Knowledge of best practices in abilities and attendance management standards, policies and procedures and ability to translate best practice to meet operational needs
  • Aptitude for efficient data collection and organization and attention to accuracy when working with detailed information; ability to perform critical assessment of data
  • Ability to problem solve complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player who is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, clients and other key stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to communicate information to a diverse audience base
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively, manage a full work load and meet and/or negotiate deliverables in a busy environment
  • Ability to adapt to change within a continuous process improvement environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to health and safety policies, procedures and applicable legislation

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma with specialty in Human Resources or Labour Relations; degree preferred
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in similar role performing case management, critical assessment and analytical functions, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Recent applied experience performing disability and/or attendance case management, preferred
