Welcome

Message to the Community

Although KEYS physical locations have closed, our intention during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic is to continue serving our communities. However, how we serve you may look different during this time. Ensuring the safety of our employees and clients is paramount. We are supporting local, provincial and national efforts to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19, including by following the advice of public health officials. For the time being, we suggest that your first method of contact with KEYS be via phone call or email. Other options are also being looked into. Contact information can be found on our website: www.keys.ca/contact/contact.php

Volunteers Needed!

It takes a community to help government-assisted refugees in making Kingston home.

About a dozen newcomers arrive in Kingston every month as Government-assisted refugees and the best way for them to get settled is with community support. KEYS is asking for at least 40 volunteers to support and befriend an influx of immigrants. Our volunteers create social connections and become the face of Canada. Volunteers donate their time to help a family become part of our community. They can dine together, help with language and homework, go on outings, or be a tour guide.  While a volunteer can come from every age and background, we are especially looking for retirees to help out. Those new to Canada carry fears that they will experience discrimination. They are looking for ‘elders,’ those who are wise and experienced. Find out more information on our Volunteer Program here.

Watch our interview on Global News discusssing our campaign to recruit volunteers!
