The wage for this position Level V, Step 1 ($29.60/hour) for external candidates and at a Step related to years of service at KEYS for internal candidates, for 35 hours/week. The Employer Services Consultant will place candidates in job opportunities appropriate to their goals and will develop accommodation and coaching strategies in consultation with the employer. They will focus on supporting those job seekers who are furthest from the labour market and have challenges in finding and keeping work. The Employer Services Consultant will actively foster relationships with employers within our catchment areas and promote the full suite of KEYS programs and services to employers. They will focus on outreach to the local business community to increase job opportunities for KEYS clients.
The Employer Services Consultant will facilitate specialized services required to support and connect clients with high service needs to employment: job development, job trials, job coaching, and inclusive workplace coaching. These activities require coordination with multiple stakeholders to set up job trials, special workplace accommodation, conduct assessments and bring in 3rd party expertise as required (interpreters, job coaches).
The Employer Services Consultant will collaborate actively with internal client-facing staff across multiple program areas to serve job seekers from various backgrounds and with various needs.
Competencies Required
a. Thorough knowledge of funding parameters, eligibility criteria for all KEYS programs, reporting guidelines and file maintenance protocols
b. Ability to develop trust relationships with members of the business community, while supporting job seekers in a supportive, solution‐focused manner
c. Knowledge and understanding of current labour market trends, employment support services as they relate to workforce development, and vocational training opportunities.
d. Understand the challenges facing the unemployed, and those challenges specific to job seekers who are furthest from the labour market.
e. Ability to advocate to employers, on behalf of individuals requiring assistance with job search
and maintenance: strong negotiation skills.
f. Ability to deal with sensitive issues with discretion and to respond positively to challenges;
ability to promote confidentiality as a norm.
g. Demonstrated good judgement and a clear understanding of appropriate service boundaries.
h. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively
within a cross-cultural team environment.
i. Ability to work with limited supervision and considerable self-direction.
j. Comfort working autonomously in off-site locations and promoting KEYS’ programs and
services in those communities.
k. Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing and appropriate professional development.
l. Remains current with technology related to position and possesses adequate computer skills.
m. Commitment to established agency performance standards which include productivity,
personal responsibility, customer centered service, collaborative team performance,
entrepreneurial attitude, and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
a. Post-secondary education in Vocational Services, Counselling, Human Resources, Human
Services or a related field.
b. Prior marketing, recruitment, business development or HR experience is an asset.
c. Proficiency in English is a requirement. Fluency in French and/or another language an asset.
d. Driver’s license, insurance and a reliable vehicle or alternative transportation to access various
local, regional and rural employers, is a requirement of this position.
Work Environment (Equipment, Demands and Hazards)
a. Shared office setting in Kingston with frequent travel within KEYS catchment areas.
b. Professional appearance is required, casual business attire.
c. 35 hours per week with occasional early morning, weekend, and evening activities
