About the Opportunity:

Not sure what’s next after high school? The Next STEP program lets you explore career options, gain real-world experience, build valuable skills, and earn money before choosing college, apprenticeship, or a career path.

Over the course of the 5-week program you’ll receive:

  • Hands-on skilled trades experience
  • Meet employers and mentors
  • Build confidence and job skills
  • Get paid while you learn
  • $20 daily stipend

What You’ll Experience:

  • Skilled Trades – Experiential learning in a Skilled Trades Lab with hands-on activities; safety training and industry-recognized certifications.
  • Work Placements – Opportunities for paid placements with local employers.
  • Career Coaching & Connections – Get one-on-one support, explore your strengths, build a career plan, and connect with professionals and employers.
  • Build Skills & Support – Gain teamwork, confidence, communication, and workplace skills, plus get ongoing support to set goals and plan your next steps.

 

Job Requirements

Eligibility:

  • Available for the entirety of 5-week program
  • Ready for full-time work
  • High school graduate
  • Have not completed post-secondary in a related field
  • Not currently working in skilled trades or manufacturing
  • Under 25 years old
  • Interested in exploring careers in trades and manufacturing

Interested applicants should attend an information session at KEYS 182 Sydenham Street, Kingston, on Tuesday, September 22, 10am-11am or Thursday, September 17, 2-3pm.
