Job Description:

The Hardware Sales Associate position is fast-paced, involving constant interaction with customers... explaining product benefits and fulfilling customer needs in hardware, woodworking tools, plumbing, electrical and paint. Helping customers is combined with store maintenance activities such as stocking shelves, merchandising and general housekeeping.


  • Meet, greet and thank customers while providing excellent customer service
  • Provide friendly, courteous and informed service about hardware, woodworking, plumbing, electrical and paint
  • Guide customers to location of products
  • Suggest value-added and related products
  • Operate paint computer and mix paint
  • Stock shelves and display areas using hole checker
  • Keep stock clean, faced and orderly through out the day
  • Locate products in the warehouse
  • Control inventory accuracy and identify and report low stock
  • Keep informed of promotions and in-store deals
  • Responsible for working or ensuring adequate coverage on all scheduled shifts
  • Maintain professional appearance (uniform, hygiene, grooming and name tag)
  • Adhere to company, store and department policies
  • Follow store health & safety program and observe provincial occupational health & safety regulations; report any observed or potential hazards immediately
  • Participate in meetings and all training as required
  • Achieve Gold E-learning status within 3 months of employment
  • Complete other tasks as required

  •  Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
  • Able to lift 1O kilos or 25 lbs unassisted and carry as required
  • Ability to lift and turn repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift above shoulder and from floor to shoulder and floor to waist
  • Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise
  • Ability to walk and carry at same time & push/pull as required
  • Able to twist, turn, reach and work above shoulder level
