As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as a Fitness and Sports Instructor, you will have the opportunity to lead Fitness, Sports and Aquatics programs for a very highly motivated and professional clientele. Daily, you will develop, deliver and assess Tactical programs based on established employment standards to ensure the members of the Canadian Armed Forces can safely and effectively perform their duties in operations.

Fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs are delivered by PSP on Bases, Wings and Units across Canada and in deployed operations. PSP delivers evidence-based programs, which contribute to the health and well-being of the military community and operational effectiveness of the CAF.


  • College diploma or certificate in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field AND several years of experience in physical fitness evaluation and prescription or in a related field
  • Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
  • Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate
  • Successful completion of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Fitness & Sports Level 1 & 2 Courses by the end of probation

Experience in:

  • Preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
  • Instructing health and physical fitness training modules
  • Applying policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Evaluating physical fitness
  • Aquatics such as life guarding or swim instruction
  • Officiating at least three sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, racquet sports, and hockey
  • Coaching sports
  • Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership (our shared competencies).
