What is the Community of Practice?
The Workplace Inclusion Charter (WIC) Community of Practice is an in-person and online platform that supports Charter employers in continuing to strengthen their equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, and accessibility (EDIIA) practices in the workplace. This page provides a space for participants to connect with the WIC team, access resources, and take part in events and activities that support ongoing learning, collaboration, and growth.
Who can join the Community of Practice?
Why join the Community of Practice?
Joining the Community of Practice allows organizations to continue learning, sharing knowledge, and staying current with emerging best practices in inclusive workplaces, even after completing the Workplace Inclusion Charter action plan, an employer‑led roadmap for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. Charter employers who join the Community of Practice gain access to free, curated resources, including guides, toolkits, and checklists, as well as free workshops and events focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
How does joining this Community of Practice benefit my organization?
The Workplace Inclusion Charter’s mission is to advance equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, and accessibility (EDIIA) across workplaces in Kingston and the surrounding area by strengthening recruitment and retention practices, organizational policies and procedures, and workplace culture. In support of this mission, participation in the Community of Practice provides organizations with ongoing support and practical resources that help improve employee knowledge and experience, enhance team performance and support positive organizational outcomes. It also enables organizations to stay connected with the WIC and KEYS teams for future learning opportunities, events, and emerging supports beyond the initial action plan.
What kinds of activities take place?
The Community of Practice offers a range of free activities and events hosted by the WIC team and other teams at KEYS, including symposiums, interactive workshops, and information sessions. Activities are offered both online and in person.
