KEYS can help. We are hosting a Smart Serve Certification Workshop on Tuesday July 28th, 9:30am – 1:00pm, 375 Wiliam Street, Gananoque.
Smart Serve is Ontario’s official responsible alcohol service training program, designed to teach hospitality and retail workers how to safely and legally sell, serve, or handle liquor.
Some of the items we will learn about in this workshop:
- Liquor Laws: Understanding the legal requirements in Ontario, including hours of service, server responsibilities, and civil liability.
- Identifying Intoxication: How to recognize the physical and behavioral signs of intoxication before a customer is over-served.
- Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC): Learning how to use BAC charts to estimate how alcohol affects the body and how factors like weight, gender, and the rate of consumption play a role.
- Intervention Strategies: Techniques to responsibly refuse service, slow down the rate of alcohol consumption, and handle difficult or aggressive situations safely.
- Checking Identification: How to verify a customer’s age, spot fake IDs, and confidently refuse entry or sales to minors.
