Description

A Planning‑Focused, Sales‑Driven Opportunity for Established Advisors

Co‑operators is seeking an experienced, licensed Financial Advisor to grow and manage a professional advisory practice serving clients in Kingston and the surrounding area. This role is designed for advisors with a minimum of three years of experience who are confident in needs‑based financial planning, skilled in new business development, and committed to delivering long‑term value to clients.

This is a hybrid role that allows advisors to primarily work from their home office, while remaining connected to the local office, clients, and community. It offers the flexibility experienced advisors expect, combined with the stability, credibility, and support of a leading Canadian financial services organization.

Role Objective

The objective of this role is to grow and manage a profitable advisory practice through needs‑based financial planning and active business development. The Financial Advisor will demonstrate a proven ability to prospect for new business, develop new client relationships, conduct regular client reviews, and effectively manage and grow an existing client base.

Success in this role requires balancing planning excellence with disciplined sales activity, ensuring both strong client outcomes and sustainable business growth.

Why Co‑operators?

Co‑operators is a leading Canadian financial services co‑operative known for integrity, long‑term stability, and community impact. Our advisors are supported as professionals and practice builders through:

  • A trusted national brand with strong local presence
  • Proven planning tools, technology, and advisory processes
  • A values‑based culture focused on long‑term client relationships
  • Ongoing professional development and designation support
  • Flexibility to structure your workday and client engagements

The Role

As an Experienced Financial Advisor, you will deliver integrated advice across life insurance, wealth management, and financial planning solutions for personal and business clients. You will manage your own book of business while actively growing it through prospecting, referrals, and community engagement.

Advisors who also hold an “Other Than Life” (General Insurance) licence will have the opportunity to further expand their practice by offering liability and commercial insurance solutions to business owners, creating an additional, complementary income stream and strengthening overall client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Client Management

  • Conduct comprehensive, needs‑based financial planning conversations
  • Complete regular client reviews to reassess goals, risks, and opportunities
  • Provide tailored recommendations aligned with clients’ life stages and objectives
  • Manage and deepen existing client relationships through ongoing advice and service

Business Development & Sales

  • Actively prospect for new personal and business clients through networking, referrals, and proactive outreach
  • Develop and execute disciplined sales and business‑development activities
  • Identify cross‑selling opportunities across insurance, wealth, and financial planning solutions
  • For licensed advisors, deliver liability and commercial insurance solutions to business owners as an additional revenue stream
  • Build strong community relationships to support referral‑based growth

Professional Standards & Compliance

  • Maintain all required licenses and adhere to regulatory and ethical standards
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Handle sensitive personal and financial information with discretion and professionalism

What Sets You Up for Success

You are well‑suited for this role if you:

  • Are confident balancing financial planning and sales accountability
  • Have a strong client‑first mindset and professional presence
  • Are self‑directed, disciplined, and motivated by long‑term practice growth
  • Communicate with clarity, confidence, and credibility
  • Value flexibility, autonomy, and accountability

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

This opportunity is not entry‑level. Qualified candidates must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Financial Advisor or in a comparable advisory role
  • Life Insurance Licence (LLQP)
  • Mutual Funds Licence
  • Actively working toward, or already holding, one of the following designations:
    • CFP (Certified Financial Planner)
    • PFP (Personal Financial Planner)

Assets:

  • Other Than Life (General Insurance) Licence, enabling access to additional income through liability and commercial insurance sales to business owners

Work Model & What You Need to Know

  • Hybrid role, with the ability to primarily work from a home office
  • In‑office presence and client meetings as required
  • Regular meetings with clients in their environment (home, business, community)
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required
  • Advisors handle sensitive financial and personal information; confidentiality is essential
  • Background checks are required as part of the selection process

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a competitive and transparent compensation structure designed for experienced advisors:

  • Base salary: $40,000 – $70,000, depending on experience
  • 100% commissions paid directly to the advisor, including commissions earned through additional product lines
  • Paid health and dental benefits
  • 3–4 weeks of paid vacation, based on experience
  • Ongoing training, professional development, and designation support

This structure rewards advisors who combine strong planning practices with consistent business development and multi‑line client solutions.

Ready to Build What’s Next?
