BuildWell Consulting Inc. (BuildWell) is hiring two (2) Construction Inspectors to support with Contract Administration and Inspection Services for an MTO construction contract in the Kaladar area.

Join a dynamic Contract Administration team and gain valuable construction oversight experience, working alongside experienced and knowledgeable colleagues. The role, which is in the field and involves primarily daytime hours (Monday to Friday; 40 to 50 hours per week), involves monitoring highway construction work to verify that is done in general conformance with Contract Documents. The Construction Inspectors will report to a Contract Administrator and will have the support of their on-site team who help to mentor, support and supervise the selected candidates. The role is open to either summer students for the 2024 construction season, to recent graduates who are looking to join on a full-time, permanent basis, and to individuals with prior inspection experience, as we look to build our presence in the area. The following is an overview of the skills and qualifications required of the Construction Inspector role:

  • Applicants must be presently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technologist / Technology program or have graduated from a Civil Engineering Technologist / Technology program with the ability to register for the OACETT Road Construction Junior Inspector (RCJI) or Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designations.
  • No prior construction or inspection experience is required; only a willingness to learn and develop your career.
  • The successful applicant must have access to a vehicle, with a valid G driver's license.
  • The successful applicant should be willing to work dayshifts or nightshifts, depending on the nature of the project tasks.
  • The successful applicant should be committed to working in a safe manner, in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and BuildWell's Health & Safety policy. All necessary training, PPE, job-shadowing and supervision will be provided for the role.
  • Good written communication skills are an asset, as the successful applicant will be required to maintain detailed, accurate written records (Daily Diaries) of work completed throughout the shift.
  • Good verbal communication skills are an asset, as the successful applicant will be required to communicate with various project stakeholders throughout their work, in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Analytical skills are also an asset, as work will generally involve monitoring contractor's operations to confirm that they are being done in general conformance with Contract Documents, while also supporting with a Quality Assurance material sampling and field testing program.
