Description

Position Overview

The Fund Development & Community Engagement Coordinator is a key leadership role responsible for strengthening community relationships, advancing fundraising performance, and supporting mission-driven communications and volunteer engagement.

This role drives revenue development, enhances community awareness, and ensures meaningful engagement with donors, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders across the region.

Working closely with the Executive Director, this position acts as a liaison across fund development, marketing, and volunteer programming, and contributes to organizational planning and revenue strategy.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  1. Fund Development & Revenue Growth (Primary Focus – approx. 60%)
  • Develop and implement annual fundraising strategies and campaigns aligned with organizational priorities
  • Plan and execute fundraising events in collaboration with staff and volunteers
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, corporate partners, and community sponsors
  • Support grant writing, funding proposals, and donor pipeline development, including major gifts and planned giving opportunities
  • Track, analyze, and report on fundraising performance (ROI, donor retention, campaign effectiveness)
  • Support revenue forecasting and budget development with the Executive Director
  1. Community Engagement & Strategic Communications (approx. 25%)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders and partners
  • Develop and implement communication strategies that increase awareness and engagement
  • Create content across multiple channels including newsletters, email campaigns, social media, print materials, and website updates
  • Support provincial campaigns in collaboration with Alzheimer Society Ontario (ASO/ASiO)
  • Serve as a key contact for community outreach and public-facing communications
  1. Volunteer Leadership & Program Support (approx. 15%)
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement for fundraising and events
  • Ensure volunteers are well-supported, appropriately matched, and meaningfully recognized
  • Support volunteer coordination functions and capacity building for events and initiatives
  • Strengthen volunteer retention and engagement strategies aligned with organizational goals
  1. Risk Management & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with CRA fundraising guidelines and Alzheimer Society standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to events, volunteers, donor data, and third-party partnerships
  • Support implementation of event safety, insurance, and minimum standards requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, or event management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Assets

  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, or social media tools
  • Knowledge of dementia care or health-related nonprofits
  • Volunteer management experience or training
